The Album of the Day is ‘If I Don’t Come Home You’ll Know I’m Gone’ by The Wooden Sky. So I’m sitting in the gloriously vintage breakfast-all-day-diner, The Galaxie early one morning with a friend of mine and this album comes floating through the tiny diner past our bacon and eggs, as a voice from the past. Not as far back as the vibe the diner gives off, it was released in 2009 but the music really could be from any era. It evokes a bygone time as most good folk music can and Gavin Gardiner’s voice captures that history well. This Toronto-based band as been around since 2003. It’s one of those ‘How did I miss that one?!’ albums. Especially considering they’ve recently been touring extensively with fellow Canadian gems Rural Alberta Advantage, Elliot Brood and Yukon Blonde. I thought it prudent to give this, there second album, some attention as their third release ‘Every Child a Daughter, Every Moon a Sun’ is set for an imminent release, February 28, 2012. For fans of the afore mentioned bands and The Avett Brothers. Click on the album cover to listen to ‘Something Hiding From Us In The Night’.
