And the Ampersand

A music and photography blog.
The Album of the Day is ‘Cape Dory’ by Tennis. Imagine The Beach Boys growing up on the United States’ Eastern Seaboard instead of sunny California and singing more songs like ‘Sloop John B’, add a little post-punk fuzzy guitar and some female vocals to 50’s pop chord progressions and you have Tennis. The Colorado-based husband and wife duo spent seven months sailing along the East Coast and this album is their ship logs. Once they made land they combined the story of their voyage with lofi recordings to get a nostalgic sound. For fans of Mates of State, Best Coast, The Rosebuds, The Chiffons, The Shirelles and The Beach Boys. Click on the album cover to listen to ‘Marathon’.
